Archie Babb was the first cousin 3× removed of Rebecca, nephew to her 2× great-grandmother Delilah Babb Bishop. He was a young farmer living in Estill County, Kentucky, at the time of his tragic death.

Timeline of Events

May 4, 1931: Archie Babb was shot and killed on Station Camp Creek.
May 5, 1931: Joe Woolery surrendered to the jailer in Irvine.
May 6–7, 1931: The story was picked up by multiple newspapers as the investigation unfolded.
May 7, 1931: Woolery was indicted for willful murder and a trial was scheduled.
